Australian Folk Band
. . . . The Nodding Thistles bush band hails from Bathurst, NSW, Australia. The band was formed in 1994 by a group of experienced musicians sharing a love of traditional Australian bush music. These days, the band's sound is based on songs and dance tunes played on accordion, mandolin and guitar, and the band also has lots of friends who bring along other instruments when the occasion suits.
. . . . Well known songs about shearers, bushrangers and drovers are combined with dances and more recent Aussie songs to offer ideal entertainment for community events, 21st birthdays, weddings, family reunions, corporate functions and all those special occasions when young and old come together to have fun.
. . . . The Nodding Thistles recreate the exciting atmosphere of the old woolshed dances. The music transports you to a time when the shears clicked and the swagmen tramped along the wallaby track in search of work and tucker.
. . . . You can learn the steps to the polka, strip-the-willow and quadrille just the way they were danced during the gold rush and in the time of Ned Kelly.
. . . . The band members play accordion, mandolin, fiddle, guitar, harmonica, bones, lagerphone and assorted cutlery.
. . . . Let yourself be taken back to Australia's wild colonial days when you share the music of The Nodding Thistles.
